Is Your Computer Feeling Slow?

Your computer takes forever to start up. Programs hang when you open them. You keep running out of storage space. Everything feels slow compared to when it was new. You might think it's time to spend hundreds or even thousands on a new one. In a lot of cases, the right hardware upgrade can make your current computer feel new again.

An SSD upgrade alone can make a computer boot in seconds instead of minutes. Adding more RAM lets you run more programs without the slowdown. These upgrades usually cost a small fraction of a new computer. They can add years to the life of the machine you already own.

ART Computer comes to your home and installs the right upgrades for your computer. We'll tell you what will make the biggest difference. You get a quote before we start any work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the single best upgrade for a slow computer?

An SSD (Solid State Drive). For most slow computers, swapping the old hard drive for an SSD makes the biggest difference. Boot times can drop from several minutes to under 30 seconds. Opening programs and browsing files gets a lot snappier too. If your computer still has a spinning hard drive, an SSD is almost always worth it.

How much RAM do I need?

For basic home use like web browsing, email, and documents, 8GB is the minimum we suggest today. If you keep a lot of tabs open, edit photos, or run heavier software, 16GB is better. We'll check what your computer has now and what it can take. Then we suggest the right amount for how you use it.

Can you upgrade my laptop or is it just desktops?

Both. We upgrade desktops and laptops. Most laptops can take a RAM and storage upgrade. Some newer ultrabooks have parts soldered to the motherboard, so they can't. We'll check your exact model and tell you what's possible before you commit.

Will I lose my files when you upgrade my hard drive to an SSD?

No. We clone your old drive onto the new SSD. Your files, programs, settings, and desktop all look exactly the same when we're done. The one thing you'll notice is how much faster it runs. We check that the clone is complete and working before we remove your old drive.
